Maria do Céu Albuquerque

The Minister of Agriculture, Maria Céu de Albuquerque, was State Secretary of Regional Development, from February to October 2019, of the previous Government. During 9 years she was Mayor of the city of Abrantes. Since 2013 she chaired the Intermunicipal Council of the Intermunicipal Community of Médio Tejo.

She was member of the Monitoring Committee of the 'Centro 2020' Regional Operational Programme (ROP) and of the Executive Commission of the Regional Tourism Organisation 'Centro de Portugal'. She also chaired the board of TecParques - Associação Portuguesa de Parques de Ciência e Tecnologia.

She was member of the Economic and Social Council as well as of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) in the Standing Committee for Equality.

She has a Degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra and she is a Quality and Food Safety Management  from the Egas Moniz Higher Institute of Health Science (University).
